Four adults and two children are displaced after a fire destroyed their duplex in Fort Pierce.

The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) said units were dispatched just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday after a caller could see smoke coming from the vents inside their home at Skylark Drive, off South 7th Street.

Firefighters said smoke could be seen upon their arrival coming from the attic of a nearby duplex.

Crews said they were able to contain the flames by 5:45 p.m. Photos taken inside the home show fire damage with most of the ceiling burned through.

The SLCFD said the Red Cross was called to assist six people: four adults and two children.
