From the hiring of head coach Paul Maurice in the offseason, to Matthew Tkachuk's introductory press conference, to a less than spectacular regular season, to an ultra sensational postseason, it was a heck of a ride for Florida Panthers fans in 2023. The only shortcoming is that they didn't get to experience one of the greatest traditions in sports.

It was the Las Vegas Golden Knights hoisting the Stanley Cup, and passing to the historic trophy to one another, one by one experiencing the moment they've dreamt of since they were kids. Panthers mega-star Tkachuk's season ended in heartbreaking fashion, not able to play because of a broken sternum.

Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said after the 9-3 game five season ending loss that Tkachuk was one of four Panthers players with broken bones as the playoffs came to a close.
